Farmer of the Year Award

The purpose of the Massachusetts Farmer of the Year Award is to recognize a farm or farmer who has displayed exemplary innovation, community commitment, and farm sustainability in the Commonwealth.

Criteria

The nominee must be a farmer in Massachusetts. The nominee actively participates in the day to day running of the farm, the nominee demonstrates active leadership and dedication to agriculture in Massachusetts, the nominee educates the community about the importance of agriculture, the nominee shows commitment to the profession by being a member and engaging in an agricultural related organization.

Nominations and all supporting documents must be received by close of business on February 1st by online form or emailed to the award chair. The review team will be comprised of volunteer members of the Massachusetts Commodity groups.

Recipients of the award will be notified and invited as distinguished guests to Massachusetts Ag Day at the Statehouse.

The Massachusetts Farmer of the Year award was established in 2024. Winners have included

2024- Kevin & Kate O’Dwyer, Langwater Farm, Easton Mass.

2025- Steve Ward, Steven F. Ward Cranberries, Carver Mass.
